The Most Beneficial Lead Screw End Mounts There is on the Market!

This week, we've had a few questions regarding mounting options for Helix lead screw assemblies, so we thought we would take a few moments and do a little write-up about it.

There are many variations available when it comes to mounting the ends of your lead screw, as well as many variables involved in determining the most appropriate mounting option. This is something that we refer to as "end fixity."

What is end fixity? End fixity refers to the method by which the ends of the screw are supported. The degree of end fixity is related to the amount of restraint of the ends of the screw. There are four types of end fixity: simple end fixity, fixed/free fixity, fixed/simple fixity, and fixed/fixed. Today, we'll go through all of these examples:

a.) Fixed/Free

b.) Simple/Simple

c.) Fixed/Simple

d.) Fixed/Fixed

Simple End fixity can be provided through single bearing support.

Multiple or spaced pairs of bearings are more rigid than a Simple support option, but they are not considered "Fixed due to their compliance."

A screw can be supported using different combinations of end fixity. Here are a few examples:

Example A: One end with a Double Bearing EZZE-MOUNT and the other end Free. Most probably the most straightforward option, this is not recommended for any application other than short travels and slow speeds.

Example B: One end supported a  Double Bearing EZZE-MOUNT, and the other sustained a Single Bearing EZE-Mount.

Example C: Both ends supported with a  Double Bearing EZZE-MOUNT.

Example D: Both ends supported with Quad Bearing EZRF EZZE-MOUNT. When supporting a screw with two Quad Bearing EZRF EZZE-MOUNTS, the screw is highly rigid, and extra care must be taken to ensure compliance in your lead screw assembly design.

These are just a few examples of the many options that you have available when mounting your Helix lead screw assemblies.
