Assembly Technician

The Assembly Technician is responsible for manually assembling products according to specifications. Full time, 40 hours per week position. Steady work flow and great working environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Build assemblies to print specifications to meet required due dates adhering to all ISO 9001 regulations and guidelines.
  • Receive and document receipt of component parts i.e., screw, stem cover, housing tube, actuator tube and boot to work cell.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Must be able to read a blueprint.
  • Must be able to use calipers and micrometers.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly.
  • Inspection of machined parts for burrs and sharp edges.
  • Attention to detail.

 

Non-Essential Functions:  Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education:       High school diploma or GED

Experience:   One to six months experience or related training.

Specific Skills:  Interpret and understand verbal and written directions.  Ability to interact in a team environment to complete a variety of tasks.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.:  Read and interpret blue prints.  Mechanically inclined with good math skills.  Use basic measuring devices, including tape measure, micrometers and calipers.  Operate power shop equipment.  Previous experience in mechanical assembly is a plus.

 

Working Conditions/ Physical Demands:

Normal production environment.  Frequently required to stand, walk and sit and occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Time spent on mechanical assembly 75%. HPLV painting 10%, and about 5% of time is using air tools, impacts, drills, and grinders.  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.  Frequent exposure to paint solvents, adhesives, thread lockers, epoxies, paints, sealants, metal dust, metal shavings, metal chips, lubricants and greases.

 

Interfaces:

Internal:  Communication on a daily basis with Helix employees, including shop employees management regarding

problem solving.

External:  No external interaction.

 

Success Factors:

The ability to assure assemblies are correct to print and all specifications have been met regarding the assembled product.
